Growth Plan

Plan your week: suggested moves, capacity, drag-and-drop scheduling and the weekly digest.

The Growth Plan is LogNorm’s weekly ritual. Every week you decide which moves your team will ship, give each one a day and an owner, and track them to done. LogNorm recommends what to pick, in the order of its ranking, and never stops you from planning more or less.

You work with the plan in two places:

  • Growth Dashboard (Growth Dashboard): the This week’s plan tile shows what is planned, what is unfinished from earlier weeks and LogNorm’s top recommendations, with quick actions.
  • Weekly plan (Weekly plan): the full planner, with a lane for each day, the backlog, carry-over and drag-and-drop.

The plan belongs to the website you have selected. Planning, assigning and scheduling moves needs the Owner, Admin or Editor role; see roles.

Set your weekly target

The weekly target (called weekly capacity in settings) is how many moves your team can realistically finish in a week: articles, fixes and refreshes alike. It starts at 5. Change it in either place:

  • On the dashboard tile, click Target 5 (it shows your current number), or on the Weekly plan click Edit target. Use the plus and minus buttons and click Save target.
  • Under SettingsGeneral, drag the Weekly capacity slider in the Weekly rhythm card.

The target is shared by every website in the workspace.

A target, not a cap

You can always plan more than your target. LogNorm only flags it: the progress bar turns amber past the target and the summary says how many moves you are over. The target is also what Fill to target fills up to, and LogNorm tells its ranking how many moves your team aims to finish so it weighs quick wins against bigger bets sensibly.

The Recommended for this week panel lists the highest-ranked moves that are not planned yet, are not snoozed and haven’t started. On the Weekly plan it shows up to five; each carries a short reason (for example Quick win: low effort, solid impact) and chips where LogNorm is sure:

  • Urgent: waiting makes it worse, because traffic is decaying, a competitor is gaining or a live issue is hurting the site.
  • Core to your business: the move is directly about what you sell or about buyers choosing it.

If you have planned every recommendation, pick more from the backlog. If there are none, click Run growth review on the Moves page or the dashboard to have the growth strategist fill the backlog.

Plan moves into a week

From the recommendations

  • On the Weekly plan, click Add next to a move to put it in Anytime this week, or open the arrow beside it and choose a day under Add to….
  • On the dashboard tile, click the check button (Add to this week).
  • Click Fill to target (+N) to add the top recommendations until the week reaches your target. It counts everything already in the week, including moves that have already won, and it never removes anything. When you are at or over the target, the button reads At target or Over target.

From the backlog

The backlog is every open move that isn’t in this week. On wide screens it sits beside the week; on smaller screens open it with Add from backlog. Search it, filter by category, and sort by Top priority, Highest impact or Least effort. Moves already planned into a later week stay in the backlog, and planning them here pulls them forward.

From anywhere else

  • On a move’s page, open Plan and choose Plan into this week or Plan into next week.
  • On the Moves page, select several moves and use Plan in the bar at the bottom.
  • When you create a move with New move, turn on Add to this week.

Planning a move that hasn’t started changes its status from Discovered to Planned. How many backlog moves you can see depends on your plan; when some are hidden, the backlog says how many.

Snooze, unplan or dismiss

LogNorm doesn’t have a separate “swap” button: to swap a move, take it out and add another. The options are:

ActionWhereWhat happens
Back to backlogA card’s ⋯ menu; drag the card onto the backlogLeaves the week. A move that hadn’t started goes back to Discovered.
Snooze a weekDashboard tile ⋯ menuHidden from recommendations and the backlog for 7 days, and taken out of this or any later week.
Snooze (7, 14 or 30 days)A move’s page, ⋯ menuThe same, for longer. The move shows Snoozed until a date.
Push to week NA card’s ⋯ menuMoves it to next week’s plan.
Dismiss…Dashboard tile or move page ⋯ menuPick a reason. The move leaves the backlog and comes back only if its evidence gets stronger.

Snoozed moves return by themselves when the snooze ends. The backlog shows how many are currently snoozed. More on dismissing and deleting in Moves and ranking.

The week view

Open Weekly plan. Use the week switcher in the header to move to the previous week, This week or the next week; each shows how many moves it holds. Past weeks are for looking back: their unfinished moves appear as carry-over in the current week.

This week’s load

The summary card shows how many moves are planned against your target, a segmented bar and three counts:

CountMove statuses
PlannedDiscovered, Planned
In progressResearching, Drafting, In review, Approved
DonePublished, Measuring, Won

Below it you see the Mix of work this week by category and the total effort points planned, so a week of five multi-day pages doesn’t hide behind a count of five.

Days and lanes

The board has an Anytime this week lane for moves without a fixed day, then a row for each day from Monday to Sunday. Today is marked. Each card shows the move’s category, status, effort and owner.

Carry-over

Moves planned in an earlier week that are still Planned, Researching, Drafting, In review or Approved appear in the unfinished from earlier weeks strip. Click Move to this week on one, drag it into a day, or click Move all to this week to bring them all into Anytime this week. Carry-over always goes into the current week.

Drag and drop

On a desktop browser you can drag cards:

  • from the backlog, the recommendations or carry-over into a day or the Anytime lane;
  • between days, and up or down within a day to set the order;
  • back onto the backlog panel to take a move out of the week.

On a phone or tablet, use each card’s ⋯ menu instead: Move to day, Move up, Move down, Push to week N, Owner, Status, Open move and Back to backlog.

Your order teaches the ranking

When you drop a move between two others, LogNorm records that it should come after the one above and before the one below. Those calls are kept as preferences and applied on every ranking pass, which runs again about a minute later. The same happens with Rank higher and Rank lower on a move’s page. See Steer the ranking.

Finish a move from the plan

Open Status in a card’s ⋯ menu. For fixes and other moves that don’t produce content, choose Mark done: the move is published and LogNorm starts measuring it. Content moves are published from the editor instead; see Content and the editor.

The weekly digest

On plans that include it, LogNorm emails every member of the workspace on Monday morning (UTC) and posts the same summary to their in-app notifications. For each website it contains:

  • this week’s plan, with the count against your target and each move’s category, type, day and expected impact;
  • moves unfinished from earlier weeks;
  • up to three moves recommended by LogNorm;
  • last week’s outcomes: moves that won and moves measured at 28 or 90 days against their baseline;
  • pages that decayed, with their new refresh moves.

Turn it off or on with Monday digest email under SettingsGeneral. To see what it looks like, click Send me a preview on the Growth Dashboard; the preview goes only to you. A workspace with no moves yet gets no digest.

If email delivery isn’t configured on your LogNorm server, the digest still arrives as an in-app notification.

A good weekly routine

  1. Monday: read the digest

    See what shipped, what won and what decayed.

  2. Bring in carry-over

    Decide whether unfinished moves still deserve this week.

  3. Fill to target, then adjust

    Start from LogNorm’s recommendations, swap out anything that doesn’t fit, and drag the rest into the order you want.

  4. Give each move a day and an owner

    People you assign get a notification, and contributors see the moves they own on the Moves page.
