Credits and billing

How credits work, what each job costs, plans, credit packs and invoices.

LogNorm bills in two ways. A plan sets what your workspace can do: websites, seats, tracked keywords, AI prompts, publishing and so on. Credits pay for the work LogNorm does for you: crawling, search data, AI calls and the platform fee on each job. This page explains how credits move, what each job costs, and how to manage your plan, payments and invoices. For current prices, see Pricing.

Where to find billing

Two pages in Settings cover money:

  • SettingsPlan & billing: your plan, your credit balance, plans, credit packs, promo codes, usage against your plan limits, referrals, and an activity log of every credit movement and payment.
  • SettingsUsage & costs: what the workspace costs to run over a period (this billing period, or the last 7, 30 or 90 days), split into LogNorm credits and what your own AI keys are being charged. You can export it as CSV.
Who can do what

Owners and admins can see both pages. Only owners can change the plan, buy credits, redeem promo codes or set a spend cap. Everyone else sees which plan the workspace is on and who to ask. See Workspaces, websites and team for roles.

How credits work

Included and purchased credits

Your balance has two buckets, shown on the Credits card:

BucketWhere it comes fromDoes it expire?
IncludedYour plan's monthly allowance, granted at the start of each billing period. Trial credits also land here.Yes. Unused included credits expire when the next period starts and the new allowance is granted.
PurchasedCredit packs, credit promo codes and referral rewards.No. Purchased credits roll over month to month.

LogNorm always spends included credits first and only then draws on purchased ones. On a yearly plan you still receive your included credits monthly, not all at once. The size of the monthly allowance depends on your plan; it's listed on Pricing and on the Monthly line of the Credits card.

Holds and settlement

Most jobs don't know their exact cost until they finish. So when a job starts, LogNorm places a hold: it reserves an estimate from your balance. Your available credits are included plus purchased, minus what's held.

When the job ends, the hold is settled:

  • Succeeded: you're charged what the job actually used (its provider calls plus a small platform fee), and the rest of the hold comes back. The charge is capped at one and a half times the hold, so a job that runs long can't surprise you.
  • Failed: you pay only for provider work that had already run before it failed, without the platform fee. If nothing ran, the whole hold is released. A job that is retried keeps its hold until the last attempt.

If your available balance is below a job's estimate, the job won't start. You'll see a message like “This needs about 85 credits and you have 40. Buy a credit pack or wait for your monthly credits.”

Some quick actions in the app skip the hold and are charged exactly what they used, as they happen. Examples are draft scorecards, move scorecards, keyword checks, blog idea and blog topic suggestions.

Set a monthly spend cap

To limit how much a workspace can spend in a billing period, open SettingsPlan & billing. On the Credits card, click Set a cap and enter a number of credits. Once a job's estimate would push this period's spend past the cap, that job is refused. Clear the field to remove the cap. The card shows what you've spent since the period started, and the bar turns amber at 80% of the cap.

What each job costs

Each job has a hold size (what's reserved up front) and a platform fee (charged on success, even when you use your own AI keys). The final charge is what the job actually used plus the fee, which is usually below the hold.

Behind these numbers, one credit covers a fixed slice of provider cost. Provider calls that fail cost nothing. To see where your credits went, use Where credits went on the billing page (switch between By feature and By provider), or the By activity, By provider & model, Jobs and Recent calls tabs on SettingsUsage & costs.

Decision calls are billed fractionally

LogNorm makes many small judgement calls: classifying keywords, rating blog ideas, screening Company Brain sources, ranking moves. Each one costs a tiny fraction of a credit, so rounding every call up to a whole credit would overcharge you. Instead, LogNorm keeps a running total of your decision spend and charges one credit each time that total crosses a whole credit. Most individual calls show 0 credits; every so often one shows 1. In usage these appear under the provider LogNorm decisions. LogNorm always runs decision calls, even when you use your own AI keys, so they're always metered.

Your own keys versus LogNorm AI

Choose the AI mode on the AI providers page. See AI providers and keys for setup.

With your own keys, SettingsUsage & costs estimates what each key is costing you at list prices, and links to each provider's Real bill. Treat those figures as estimates; your provider's invoice is the source of truth.

Bringing your own key is the cheapest way to run content-heavy workspaces: briefs and drafts are mostly AI tokens, while audits and keyword research are mostly data.

Plans, limits and the trial

Every plan combines features (for example AI drafts, publishing, AI visibility tracking, the review workflow, campaigns) with limits (websites, members including pending invites, tracked AI prompts, publish targets, competitors per website, Company Brain sources, targeted keywords, pages per crawl) and a monthly credit allowance. Plans and their values are set by LogNorm and can change, so check Pricing or the Plans section of your billing page.

Usage vs limits on the billing page shows how much of each limit you use. If you hit one, LogNorm tells you which limit you reached and asks you to upgrade; nothing is deleted.

The free trial

The first workspace you create starts on a 14-day trial of the Growth plan, with a batch of trial credits. Each person gets one trial; any later workspace you create starts on Free. The billing page counts down the days left. Pick a plan before it ends to keep the review workflow, publishing and AI visibility; nothing is charged until you do. When a trial ends without a plan, the workspace moves to Free. Your data stays.

Change, cancel or switch your plan

  1. Open Plans

Go to SettingsPlan & billing and scroll to Plans. Use the Monthly / Yearly toggle to compare billing periods.

  2. Choose a plan

Click Upgrade to …, Switch to … or, during a trial, Keep …. You go to a secure checkout hosted by Dodo Payments.

  3. Pay and come back

After paying you return to the billing page. LogNorm confirms the payment with Dodo before applying it, then your new limits and credits go live. If the payment is still processing, it appears within a few minutes.

A new plan starts a new billing period that day. When you switch from one paid plan to another, your old subscription is stopped, so you're never billed for both.

To cancel, click Cancel plan on the current plan card and confirm Cancel at period end. You keep everything until the date shown under Access until, then the workspace moves to Free. Changed your mind? Click Keep my plan any time before then. Choosing Downgrade to Free in the plan list works the same way for a paid plan.

Credit packs

Need more credits before your next allowance? Under Top up credits, pick a pack and click Buy. Each pack shows its price per credit, and larger packs show their saving. Checkout runs through Dodo Payments, and the credits go into your purchased bucket as soon as the payment is confirmed. Pack sizes and prices are on Pricing.

Promo codes and referrals

Enter a code in the Promo code card and click Redeem. A code can do one of these:

  • Add credits (to your purchased bucket).
  • Take a percentage or fixed amount off your plan, for a set number of months or for good. You need to be on a plan to use a percentage code. The discount applies to your next checkout, so redeem the code in LogNorm before you choose a plan; the Dodo checkout page doesn't accept codes. When a discount period ends, your plan returns to its full price from the next renewal.
  • Extend a trial by some days (trial workspaces only).
  • Unlock a feature or raise a limit, sometimes for a limited time.

Each workspace can use a code once. Some codes are limited to certain plans or to new workspaces, and LogNorm tells you why a code doesn't apply.

If your billing page shows a referral card, share your link. When a workspace you referred makes its first payment, you earn credits in your purchased bucket. The reward amount is shown on the card.

Payments, invoices and the customer portal

Payments go through Dodo Payments, LogNorm's merchant of record. Dodo takes the payment and handles sales tax, VAT or GST, which is added at checkout where it applies. You can pay by card, UPI and other local methods, and checkout can show prices in your local currency.

On a paid plan, click Invoices & payment method on the current plan card. This opens Dodo's customer portal, where you can download invoices, update your payment method, pay an overdue renewal, or schedule a cancellation. The link is created on demand each time you click. The Activity section of the billing page also lists every payment, plus a Credit ledger of every credit movement (monthly credits, purchases, usage, promos, referrals, adjustments and expiries) with the running balance.

If a renewal fails

The plan shows Payment failed and owners are notified. Click Update payment method to fix the card and pay the renewal in the portal. If the subscription ends, the workspace moves to Free and keeps its data.
