What this SEO checker looks at
The checker reads the HTML your server returns for up to 25 pages and runs the 15 rules below, the same rules LogNorm’s full site audit uses for them. It fetches pages as LogNormBot, respects your robots.txt and does not run JavaScript, so it sees what a crawler sees on first load.
| Check | Severity | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Pages returning 4xx | Critical | Broken pages waste crawl budget and lose the links pointing at them. |
| Server errors or timeouts | Critical | Search engines drop pages that keep failing. |
| Broken internal links | Critical | Links to dead pages frustrate visitors and leak authority. |
| Missing title tag | Critical | The title is the headline of your search result. |
| Duplicate titles | Warning | Pages with the same title compete with each other. |
| Title too long | Notice | Titles over about 65 characters get cut off. |
| Missing meta description | Warning | Google picks its own snippet, which often sells the click poorly. |
| Missing H1 | Warning | The H1 tells readers and crawlers what the page is about. |
| Pages blocked from indexing | Warning | A noindex tag keeps the page out of search entirely. |
| Thin content | Warning | Short pages that don't deliver on their title rarely rank. |
| Possible keyword cannibalisation | Warning | Near-identical titles target the same search and split signals. |
| Slow pages | Warning | HTML that takes over 2.5 seconds hurts rankings and conversion. |
| No XML sitemap | Warning | A sitemap helps search engines find every page. |
| Key pages without structured data | Notice | JSON-LD earns rich results and helps AI engines read your offer. |
| Images missing alt text | Notice | Alt text makes images accessible and gives them context. |
It also classifies each page (product, pricing, comparison, blog and so on) to see which stages of a buyer’s search you cover. That part catches growth gaps a purely technical audit misses.
How to use the free SEO audit tool
Enter your domain above and the scan starts right away. You watch it crawl in real time, then land on your report.
- Enter your domainType acme.com or a full URL. The scan starts from the home page of that host.
- Let it crawlThe report page shows progress while up to 25 pages are fetched and scored. Keep the tab open; the report link works later too.
- Read the score and findingsStart with critical findings, then warnings. Each one says how many of the scanned pages it affects and why it matters.
- Fix, then scan againA domain scanned in the last 24 hours shows the same report, so re-scan the next day. In a LogNorm workspace you can re-check one fix right away.
What your growth score means
The growth score is a weighted average of five parts, each scored from 0 to 100. It measures how well your site can win search traffic, not only whether it is error-free.
| Part | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Buyer-journey coverage | 25% | Pages for the problem, solutions, comparisons, alternatives, integrations, use cases and pricing |
| Technical health | 20% | Status codes, indexability and how fast the HTML loads |
| Content depth | 20% | Median words per page and the share of pages with 300 words or more |
| Titles and metadata | 20% | Title and description length, one H1 per page, canonical tags |
| Internal linking | 15% | How many pages get at least one or two links from other pages |
Scores of 85 and above are strong. From 65 the site is solid with gaps, from 45 it needs work, and below that it is leaving growth on the table. Two sites with the same technical health can sit far apart because one has comparison and pricing pages and the other doesn’t.
How to fix the most common problems
Fix broken pages and missing titles first: they cost you traffic today. Metadata and content come next, then structure.
Broken pages and links
Restore the page or add a 301 redirect to the closest live page, then update the internal links that point at the old URL. Redirects alone still cost every visitor a hop.
Missing, long or duplicate titles
Give every page a unique title of about 30 to 60 characters that leads with its main keyword. The title tag and meta description checker shows the pixel width and how Google will cut it.
Missing meta descriptions
Write 70 to 160 characters that state a concrete benefit. Google doesn’t rank on descriptions, but a good one wins the click when you do rank.
Thin content and cannibalisation
Expand short pages with the specifics buyers ask about, or merge them into a stronger page and redirect. When two pages share nearly the same title, give each a distinct intent or combine them.
Noindex, sitemap and robots.txt
Remove noindex from pages you want found, publish /sitemap.xml and list it in robots.txt. Then run the robots.txt checker to confirm Googlebot and the AI crawlers can reach your key pages.
Connect Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to LogNorm. It works through the findings in your repo and LogNorm verifies each fix on the live site.
What a free scan can't tell you
A 25-page scan is a sample, so it finds patterns, not every broken URL. Treat a clean result as a good sign, not a guarantee.
- Pages beyond the 25 it fetched, and pages that only render with JavaScript.
- Backlinks, rankings and search traffic. Connect Google Search Console in LogNorm for those.
- Core Web Vitals. The speed check measures how long the HTML takes, not the full page load.
- Whether AI assistants can read and quote you. The GEO audit and AI visibility tracking in LogNorm cover that.
The full audit in a LogNorm workspace crawls the whole site, adds rules for redirects, canonicals, orphan pages and duplicate content, and runs a GEO audit for AI crawlers and agents. Read how it works in the site audit docs, or see the agent workflow in Claude for SEO.
